Scare Your Soul Challenge: Unpacking One of Your Dreams
Taking the first brave step towards your true calling.
“All human beings are also dream beings. Dreaming ties all mankind together.” Jack Kerouac
Our dreams are our truest desires decked out in blinking Las Vegas neon.
Sometimes existing in our conscious mind & sometimes arising in those hazy, half-lit moments of fantasy, they reveal what we really want and value.
They are who we are at our core.
If we choose to pay attention to them, of course.
Here’s your challenge:
Think of a daydream or fantasy you’ve experienced consistently over your life. If you don’t have one, just choose a more recent one that feels powerful to you.
Note: the more awkward, the wilder, the scarier it feels to write out, the better. That means you are really digging deep. Briefly write out the dream, when you might experience it, and how it makes you feel.
As an example, here’s mine
One consistent (or powerful) dream:
I’m standing off to the side of the stage at the Hollywood Bowl. It’s totally packed - full capacity. There’s electricity in the air and the crowd goes bonkers as Pearl Jam takes the stage. Mike McCready, Pearl Jam’s lead guitarist, is really tired from this long tour and needs a night off. Eddie Vedder looks my way at the side of the stage and gives me a wink. He motions to Mike’s unused electric guitar. I walk on stage, strap on the guitar, and we launch into the greatest high-decibel version of “Evenflow” ever.
Five words that describe how the dream makes me feel:
connected, alive, loved, creative, immortal
Your turn.
One consistent (or powerful) dream.
And five words that describe how the dream makes you feel.

I dream that I am much younger and I figured out that drinking was not the way to go in my 20's. (I quit when I was 50). My life is full of hiking, camping, climbing. I have a partner that loves to travel and be outdoors by my side as well as a couple of dogs.
Awesome challenge, Scott! Thanks!
